The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down Saturday PM in the Preservation Lakes subdivision just south of Cutlerville in Kent County.

Sunday AM statement from the G.R. NWS: “Thunderstorms moved through West Michigan on Saturday afternoon, April 10. Here is what we know so far: – Wind gusts between 35 and 45 mph were measured in Kalamazoo, Allegan, Hopkins, Kent City, Hudsonville, Holland, Ionia, and Sparta. There were a few reports of a tree or two which fell within Allegan county, which is what we typically expect from winds this strong. – An area of stronger damage occurred in a neighborhood in Gaines Township, Kent County. A small section of roof was lifted off of one home, vinyl siding was peeled off another home, a garage door was bent and almost blown in at another home, and construction plywood and porch furniture were shuffled around the neighborhood. Some trees were snapped or uprooted which brought down wires and knocked out electrical service. – We issued statements before the storm…
